How It's Made The artisan group we work with from Karnataka is a non-profit which employs individuals with physical disabilities with an emphasis on those who are affected by leprosy. The program was designed to complement and enhance treatment at a local hospital for those with physical disabilities. Patients are offered craft training in conjunction with the rehabilitation process and, eventually, long term stable jobs. The aim is to give physically disabled people access to financial independence and, potentially, an avenue to social acceptance, allowing these individuals to reintegrate with their families and communities. |
